I am the soft stars that shine at night…
What a horrendously sad week
May all those grieving loved ones find peace
Do not stand at my grave and weep

Sometimes
Even in the Brightest Light
We are but Shadows
Silhouettes
As this blog is really devoted to photography, I try to keep my ramblings to a minimum – this post will be an exception to that self imposed rule.
While my week ended not so nicely – the loss of a much loved job due to funding cuts – alas, that’s life in a non-profit – it began in the nicest way imaginable – a nomination for a Very Inspiring Blogger Award from the lovely and irrepressible mamamaitri – Thank you! For true inspiration you need to visit – and follow this blog! I am truly humbled and thankful for the nomination – as I am for every one of my followers.
As the saying goes, One good deed deserves another, so – as per the rules – it is my pleasure to pay it forward and nominate these very inspiring blogs for this award as well – please take a minute to check them out!
Broken Light: A Photography Collective
Oh – the rules of the award also state that I am supposed to share 7 things about myself – um, this goes against the grain, way out of my comfort zone – okay here’s one – I don’t necessarily follow all the rules! But, for those who I’ve nominated – and may wish to nominate others – here’s the drill: (I know, I set a bad example but I should at least follow one of the rules and pass these on)
The rules of this award are:
Thank the person who nominated you and add a link to their blog.
Display the award on your post.
List the award rules so your nominees will know what to do.
State 7 things about yourself.
Nominate 15 other bloggers for the award.
Contact your nominees to let them know you have nominated them. Provide a link to your post.
Proudly display the award logo (or buttons) on your blog, whether on your side bar, ABOUT page, or a special page for awards.
Cake for Everyone!
Okay, fact #2 – no, make that 5: I bake – I like icing, and – as you can see – colour, oh and let’s not forget the whole photography thing!
I stumbled across more than a few surprises on my annual pilgrimage to Cape Breton
Including this
I found it here, in a replica turn of the century school house in the Highland Village Museum
Humility
Virtues
Have these been relegated to the lessons of the past – can we still learn them today?
I hope so, because we desperately need them
Old school indeed!
Light and Dark – Yin and Yang
These were my thoughts as I watched the storm clouds slowly advance
But was I the Yin or the Yang in this scenario – was I the light or the darkness
Was I finding harmony – enhancing it – or creating an imbalance
Did my insignificant self/presence even matter – nature is all powerful
This is the downside to introspection – it becomes circular
